Here are a few pictures of Pat Smith's G scale outdoor layout.
R.H. & P.A.W. GARDEN SCALE RAILROAD
The R.H. & P.A.W. is a free-lance layout set in the foothills of the western U.S. The mainline or outer loop typically runs Santa Fe freights powered by a massive Mallet steam loco with occasional switching with an RS-3.
Also, the Santa Fe runs passenger traffic periodically with Alco PA powered streamliner service. A branchline off the mainline runs into the hills for logging operations with tired but willing Shay power.
Logging continues in all but the worst winter weather.
The large layout is powered by Digitrax. The mainline is about 300 feet with the logging line adding another 200 feet. Other track adds another 150 feet. There are numerous bridges, trestles, and stone cuts.
Continuous elevation changes on both lines add considerable interest along with a waterfall.
Together with the full basement Cajon Pass HO layout there is a lot of railroading going on around here.
